Interact with Other Bloggers - It's a Good Thing

The blogosphere is a huge place full of people and blogs connecting and interacting with one another for one common purpose: to gain more readers. After all, what's the point of writing a blog if no one reads it, right? You may have started your blog because you just wanted a place to share pictures and funny things that happen in your daily life, or maybe you started it to promote your business or beliefs. Whatever the reason, it is important to engage with other bloggers in order to gain new readers. You have to give a little to gain a little.

There are several ways to accomplish this. For instance, you might browse other blogs that interest you or are similar to your niche and leave comments on their posts. This is a good way to get your name out there and meet other like-minded people. Don't be spammy with your comments, though. Only leave honest, simple comments that pertain to the subject matter. You're more likely to get a return visit to your blog if your comments do not contain a link and are pertinent to the subject matter discussed in the post.

Another way to gain new readers is to join blogging communities and forums. Bloggers are a tight-knit group of people that like to share ideas and trade links. These types of communities are designed to bring bloggers together to do just that. A simple Google search for "blogging communities" will turn up hundreds of places to join and promote your blog.

When someone comments on your posts be quick to respond. The number one reason readers don't return to a blog is because they receive no response from their comments. People like to be validated for their thoughts and ideas, so if someone takes the time to leave a comment on your blog, make sure you respond in kind so they are more likely to return again.

Interacting with other bloggers is a good thing.
